LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE BRIGHT
A recent article suggested that each
Mason should ask himself as he attends Lodge the following question
"what come you here to do?" Now you may immediately say "Tom has got it
wrong!" Ritual clearly states that the Worshipful Master asks the Senior
Warden "what came you here to do?" The problem is that "came" is in the
past tense and not the present or future. PGM Bro. D. L. Smith is of the
opinion that this is simply a grammatical error in endeavoring to write
old English and that it completely misses the point. He emphatically
believes that the question is asking what you are going to do, right
now. In asking the question the Worshipful Master wants to know why you
are in the Lodge.
PGM Bro Smith further suggests that it is appropriate for all
the Lodge Members to be asking this question of the Worshipful
Master-elect. They want to know what they can expect from him. However,
as every team leader knows he cannot accomplish his goals without
effective followers. Believe it or not the followers share a lot of the
responsibility for the team's success or failure.
So the 2011 focused priorities are:
1. Maintaining peace and harmony in the Lodge,
2. Maintaining the financial viability of the Lodge,
3. Giving every attending Mason some Masonic
education at each non-degree Stated Meeting,
4. Increasing the attendance at Stated Meetings by
bringing back existing non-attending Lodge Members, and
5. Giving every attending Mason the opportunity to
participate in the Lodge activities both at Meetings and other times
All Freemasons should be on a lifelong path seeking
continuous self-improvement by searching for further light.
Please walk
with me and LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE BRITE.
A
memorial to your lodge will go a long way to help keep the fraternity
alive.
